Our co-curricular highlights
Student Representative Council
Students who are interested in leadership can nominate to be elected by their classmates to sit on the Student Representative Council. The council meets once a week in Terms 1 and 3 to listen to the ideas of each class in the school. The SRC then votes on the initiatives it wishes to support.
In Term 2 and 4, the SRC works to achieve the initiatives it passed in the previous term by raising money, liaising with the principal and P&C or engaging in student lead playground initiatives to improve the wellbeing of all students.
Creative and performing arts
Students at Brookvale are lucky enough to be part of one of the finest dance programs on the Northern Beaches. Under the tutelage of the very talented Mrs Goodearl, boys and girls are invited to join the senior and junior dance groups. Our Senior Dance Group participate in the Northern Beaches Dance Festival and has won multiple awards at various local eisteddfods.
Students in Years 5 and 6 love learning ballroom dancing each year and competing with other schools at the Gala Evening. Students learn to waltz, tango, samba and jive and also to be respectful, considerate dance partners.
Our school choirs sound angelic. There is a Junior Choir and a Senior Choir and anyone can join. Once again led by Mrs Goodearl, the Senior Choir performs locally and at combined schools performances each year.
Gymnastics
All students participate in a weekly gymnastics lesson in either Term 1 or Term 3. In Term 1, students in 3-6 walk to our local gym, All the Way Up Gymnastics in Brookvale and receive quality professional instruction by qualified instructors. In Term 3, the instructors from All the Way Up come to the school to work with our K-2 students in the school hall.
